Rims Painted
I managed to bang
some of the dents out of the rims before wirebrushing and sandblasting
them. They look better than what I first anticipated, so I'll
try to get a year out of them before finding new ones. I think
the money would be better spent in other ways right now.

New Beam
I finally got to start
putting pieces back on the chassis. It was nice to get the front
beam on - it was taking up valuable floor space in my small shop.

New Gas Line
The old gas line was
starting to show it's age. With a fair bit of monkeying around
-which involved the creation of a new tool- we were able to get
the old one out. The gas line runs through the middle of the
main tunnel of the chassis and was held in by several really
tough to get at clamps. After removing it in several pieces,
Mike and I fished the new line through the maze of tubes and
braces in the tunnel. Here's Mike celebrating the appearance
of the new stainless steel line at the front end of the car.

Under The Car
I guess the chassis
has now become 'the car' - at least I think so -anything you
have to crawl under should be referred to as a 'car'. Here I'm
tightening the transmission mounts

New Transmission Mounts
The old rubber mounts
were really dry and worn. The new mounts that I put in are made
of urethane which should provide a longer life. I think the bright
red mounts look pretty sporty too.

Back in Place
The transmission is
now firmly mounted back onto the car frame. The axles still have
to be attached to the rear suspension and a few more seals have
to be replaced. Notice the bright red mounts at the front and
rear of the gearbox.

Front Brakes
The first part of
the brake system to go on was one of the refurbished front backing
plates. All the brake components attach to this plate. It is
in very good condition and looks like new after being sandblasted
and painted.

Steering Box
The steering box bolts
on to the front beam of the car. The box is responsible for converting
the circular motion of the steering wheel to left-right linear
motion of the tie rods (see arrows) The box's actions are very
smooth and the whole unit cleaned up nicely.

It's Winter, eh?
With the arrival of
the colder weather, I've had to bring the heater into action.
At 4800 watts, it makes quick work of heating the shop up. I
like to keep it fairly warm in there - but this may change when
the first electric bill arrives.
